“An artist is an artist for the love of art.”
“You can’t make a living from art; you’ll starve.”
“The art market is just money laundering.”
These are just some of the phrases we’ve all likely heard at some point, whether we are involved in the art world or not. It may seem absurd to think that something born out of “love” could end up being labelled as a crime, yet many emerging artists are affected by ideas like these.
Money Therapy is a curatorial project that aims to reconcile these two realities, demonstrating that art is a profession and that the market is not the enemy of art but rather the means through which spaces like this can exist. This project arises as a direct response to the prejudices that undermine both artists and buyers, striving to change the perception that art is inaccessible or an unsustainable career choice.
Just as therapy guides individuals to find balance and meaning in their lives, this project offers a space to heal the misconceptions that separate art from its professional and economic recognition. In this context, Money Therapy acts as collective therapy, where artists, collectors, and the public come together to rethink the role of art in our lives. It calls for a recognition of art as both a creative act and a legitimate profession that deserves fair compensation, breaking down stigmas and fostering a more accessible, ethical, and balanced market.

Launching during Art Week in Mexico City—arguably the most important week in the industry, dominated by high-priced fairs and prestigious galleries—Money Therapy presents itself as an alternative. Here, both emerging artists and new collectors can thrive, liberated from a limiting and restrictive system.
